Thorn-D® has been researched and refined for years. The basic thought behind Thorn-D® is that a combination of prickliness and swaying of Thorn-D® fibres makes the surface unattractive for organisms to settle. One can compare the prickliness to the thorns of a rose or the spikes of a sea urchin. The swaying effect mostly resembles the furry feeling of a surface covered with micro-algae. Thorn-D® can be applied on various surfaces like nets, foils and woven materials.
More information regarding the working principle of Thorn-D® can be found at chapter “the working principle of Thorn-D®”

Thorn-D® is a patented non-toxic antifouling technology that provides a physical barrier for biofouling. By applying very specific short fibres (‘thorns”) on a surface, the surface becomes prickly and unattractive for fouling organisms to settle.
