Micanti was founded in The Netherlands to fulfil the existing market need for effective non-toxic fouling defence technology.
Micanti targets to be the market leader for non toxic antifouling through its patented technology to apply fibre thorns as fouling repellent.
The product has been tested and improved over a number of years in various environments in close cooperation with various scientific institutes and universities. This ensures Micanti’s access to the latest scientific developments.

In 2005, Rik Breur, founder of Micanti with the Thorn-D® product that he developed during the years before. During the consecutive years, the first steps towards commercialisation were taken. Currently, Rik Breur is in charge of the production processes and the general company management. |

Eric Pieters is the commercial director of the company. With a long history of working in the fibre supply chain, Eric Pieters has the skills and drive to lead Micanti to commercial success. |

As a senior researcher, Plamen Malchev is further developing the Thorn-D® technology and the creation of new product-market combinations. |
Our goal is to become the worldwide preferred supplier by 2015 for non-toxic antifouling products.
